As a piano teacher, I wanted my students to have a more individualized piano recital where they could play as many songs as they wanted and it wasn’t as scary or stressful as a normal recital. In order to do this I used the design thinking process to organize mini-recitals for each of my piano students. Each recital consisted of my students performing for just their family and friends at the place where they have piano lessons (some at my parent’s house and some at the students’ houses). At the recital I announced the name of the student and why I liked teaching the student. I then had the student say what songs they would be playing and why they liked playing the piano. After the performance, we had treats for the families. The recitals turned out to be a success for each of my students. My students loved being able to perform in a more casual and personal way, and the families loved not having to sit through a piano recital when their family members only played a couple of songs.
